Angie Comer

Angie did not choose writing and directing; it chose her. A fangirl of horror, dark comedies and true crime, Angie started writing specs for her favorite TV shows. She won her first production grant in 2007 and the second in 2009 with AFI. Angie is an active member of the film groups AWD and NALIP.

With 7 short films, 8 feature scripts and TV pilots to her credit, Angie's work pushes the boundaries of visionary excellence. Her raunchy, all Black 80's themed animated TV Pilot script, "High School High" was a Finalist with the Sundance Episodic Program.

And Angie's latest short film, "The Smartest Dumb Girl" features stand-up comedians Jenny Zigrino of FabUless and Zainab Johnson of Amazon Prime's Upload, has screened at more than 10 film festivals, including the 2022 Academy Award Qualifying LA Shorts Int'l Film Festival. Angie recently completed a new TV pilot "Welcome, Back, Carter," a masterful re-imagining of the classic sitcom.
Angie is currently in development of directing her feature script, a hip hop fairy tale entitled "Spitting Fire." This script recently won Best Screenplay at the 2024 Chicago Script Awards, Film Invasion LA Film Festival and is a Quarter-Finalist with the prestigious Academy Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship.
